Anyone else feel this way? The unemployment rate is 2.0%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,038/month for a decent place. The weather takes some getting used to. What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Springfield. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in government. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Greenfield for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- The housing market scene is average
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Good luck with whatever you decide..
