Alright, Homes are going for about $348,400 on average. Rent is about $1,032/month for a decent place. It's a a small town city with about 1,558 people. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Should I be concerned? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely hit or miss and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (North) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 4 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Sunset for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- The pet-friendliness scene is tough
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.
