Is Elkhorn a good place to live?

OK so I relocated for work and It's a a small town city with about 10,259 people. The unemployment rate is 0.7%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Elkhorn sits at 120.1 per 100K. Homes are going for about $255,300 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 2 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great Mexican places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Eastside. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in government. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
