So, My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $285,400 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Elko sits at 334.9 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Thanks in advance! There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 7 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I work in legal here and I love the pace of life here. The job market for my field is hit or miss. No regrets on my end..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is underrated in most areas.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.
