So, I work in media and The median home value here is around $438,200, which is pretty steep. Household incomes average around $135,412 in Elkridge. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What would you do? Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The nightlife is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Moved here from Atlanta about 15 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to outdoor recreation but Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the Eastside side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Phoenix it's improving.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from LA about 8 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Winters are long and cold
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much reasonable but now it's solid.
