Ellensburg is underrated, change my mind

Random thought, Poverty rate is 8.9%, which is pretty low. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much competitive but now it's surprisingly good.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Pittsburgh it's improving.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 4 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great Vietnamese places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Chicago about 10 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Summers can be brutally hot

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
