Anyone regret moving to Ellicott City?

Hey, Median household income is $157,891, which feels pretty solid for the area. Household incomes average around $157,891 in Ellicott City. The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $644,300, which is pretty steep. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Is this normal for Ellicott City? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from San Diego about 11 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is solid.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
