I'm originally from Salt Lake City and With a population of 45,538, Elmhurst is a smaller city. The median home value here is around $532,800, which is pretty steep. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Does this match your experience?

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 15 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The walkability is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..
