Longtime lurker here, I relocated for work and Crime rate is something to consider -Elmira sits at 307.9 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $871 for rent here. Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. The unemployment rate is 5.1%, which is about average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Should I be concerned? The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.
