Pros and cons of Elmira after 14 years
I grew up here but left for a while. Median household income is $43,089, which feels on the lower side for the area. The median home value here is around $88,200, which is actually reasonable. Rent is about $871/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Elmira sits at 307.9 per 100K. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. Thoughts? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development.
