First post here. I'm retired and Homes are going for about $325,000 on average. Household incomes average around $84,121 in Elmwood Park. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Thoughts?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is cultural scene. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..
