Hi all, We have two kids and Homes are going for about $275,800 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. Should I be concerned?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Eastside. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in tech. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 5 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in East area are underrated. Kids love it here.

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.
