Cheapest neighborhoods in Ely?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a teacher here and Average temperature is around 46--F, so expect cold winters. The median home value here is around $201,500, which is actually reasonable. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Is this normal for Ely? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- The cultural scene scene is solid

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Denver about 13 years ago. The main reasons were family and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is underrated.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..

Came here for retirement and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The dating scene is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Springfield area are better than expected. Kids love it here.
