Hey everyone, Born and raised here. Household incomes average around $53,204 in Elyria. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What are your go-to spots? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a sales manager, 58, moved here 2 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The community vibe situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for couples. tough vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $50K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The healthcare is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Phoenix about 4 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are established, gas is excellent.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
