Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Worth the trade-offs? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Phoenix about 7 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
