Working remotely from Emeryville

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a remote worker and Crime rate is something to consider -Emeryville sits at 1,340.9 per 100K. With a population of 12,756, Emeryville is a small town. Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a writer, 24, moved here 13 years ago from Houston. I've lived in West and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good internet infrastructure
2. Strong sense of community
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The community vibe situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for singles. decent vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.
