Hey, Born and raised here. The median home value here is around $299,000, which seems about average. Household incomes average around $58,523 in Emmett. Crime rate is something to consider -Emmett sits at 359.7 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 0.8%, which is pretty low. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Anyone in a similar situation? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 15 years ago. The main reasons were work and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely underrated and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely solid and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Eastside) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Fairview for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening
- The outdoor recreation scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The nightlife is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a software engineer, 46, moved here 5 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Pine Hills and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Property taxes are high
3. The outdoor recreation situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for retirees. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $80K-$120K here.
**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
