First post here. Homes are going for about $127,500 on average. Household incomes average around $52,787 in Emporia. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Any advice would be great. Looking forward to hearing from you all.

I've lived in Uptown for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- The weather scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..
