Longtime lurker here, Poverty rate is 4.9%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Would love some local perspective.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from New York about 5 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is underrated.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Feel free to reach out with questions..
