Hey everyone, I'm a teacher here and Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Would love some local perspective. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Fairview. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Nashville it's challenging.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Riverside for 15 years. Moved from LA for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Nightlife is limited. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 8/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in Uptown for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
- The walkability scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..
