Housing in Englewood compared to Tucson

So, I work in energy and Homes are going for about $534,000 on average. Household incomes average around $82,016 in Englewood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I wrong here? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 48, moved here 5 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in South and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good internet infrastructure
2. Close to major attractions
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The safety situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for young professionals. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $60K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in North for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- The cost of living scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from San Diego about 11 years ago. The main reasons were school and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Bought a house here in 2024 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
