I grew up here but left for a while. With a population of 19,385, Englewood is a small town. Rent is about $1,218/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $295,600, which seems about average. Poverty rate is 4.5%, which is pretty low. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Am I overthinking this? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 8 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.
