Working in Englewood -salaries realistic?

Been meaning to ask this. I relocated for work and Crime rate is something to consider -Englewood sits at 247.5 per 100K. With a population of 29,342, Englewood is a smaller city. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Thanks for reading. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 3 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Chicago about 14 years ago. The main reasons were work and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is solid.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 42, moved here 9 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Westside and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The cost of living situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for remote workers. tough vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $80K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 13 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Dallas about 8 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is average.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from San Francisco about 5 years ago. The main reasons were school and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. No regrets on my end..
