Remote worker thinking about Enid

The median home value here is around $143,500, which is actually reasonable.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Downtown for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
- The weather scene is decent

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The job market is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Oak Park for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- The cultural scene scene is improving

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 51, moved here 10 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Downtown and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The weather situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for singles. solid vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
