Just moved to Enumclaw, any tips?

Hello, The median home value here is around $498,700, which is pretty steep. With a population of 12,663, Enumclaw is a small town. Homes are going for about $498,700 on average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a chef, 39, moved here 1 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in Springfield and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Limited shopping options
3. The weather situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for retirees. average vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
