OK so You can expect to pay around $836 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Erie sits at 496.7 per 100K. The city has invested a lot in new development. Is this normal for Erie? Looking forward to hearing from you all. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a electrician, 55, moved here 13 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Downtown and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The housing market situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for singles. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $60K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The public transit is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'm a teacher and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.
