Erie quality of life -am I missing something?

Hey folks, I'm a 35-year-old contractor and Household incomes average around $43,397 in Erie. Homes are going for about $108,200 on average. Median household income is $43,397, which feels on the lower side for the area. Poverty rate is 19.6%, which is higher than I expected. With a population of 94,156, Erie is a smaller city. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Friendly people
- Growing food scene
- Active local events
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Chain restaurants dominate
What neighborhoods would you suggest? Appreciate any input. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Greenfield for 9 years. Moved from Atlanta for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Road conditions need improvement. Homeless population growing downtown. And cultural scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 9/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
