The median home value here is around $663,500, which is pretty steep. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Should I be concerned?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 4 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Urban sprawl is real
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from LA about 15 years ago. The main reasons were work and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The healthcare is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
