Longtime lurker here, I work in marketing and With a population of 150K, Escondido is a mid-size city. Rent is about $1,922/month for a decent place. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Thoughts? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.
