With a population of 150K, Escondido is a mid-size city. Crime rate is something to consider — Escondido sits at 349.8 per 100K. Rent is about $1,922/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $663,500 on average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Greenfield for 3 years. Moved from Chicago for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
legal is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is decent - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Homeless population growing downtown. Far from beaches/mountains. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 8/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Meadowbrook. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in real estate. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Asian.
