OK so I work in education and Median household income is $94,423, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value weather, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely excellent and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Homeless population growing downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from San Diego about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Midtown area are average. Kids love it here.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.
