It's a a mid-size city city with about 178K people. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The weather is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The housing market is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Riverside for 4 years. Moved from Houston for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
legal is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Road conditions need improvement. Limited shopping options. And community vibe can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 6/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Used to live on the Oak Park side, now on the Highland side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

I'm a teacher and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Phoenix about 1 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Limited entertainment options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been in Greenfield for 7 years. Moved from San Francisco for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
government is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Road conditions need improvement. And cultural scene can be frustrating.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 3 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
