Rent prices in Eugene getting crazy

Anyone else noticing rent going up fast in Eugene? Over the last year, I feel like prices went up at least 10-15%. I'm paying $1347 for a 1BR which feels okay for the area.

Are there any neighborhoods that are still affordable? Thinking about moving to a cheaper area.

As someone who moved here from Atlanta, I can confirm most of this. The friendliness of people surprised me the most.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Lakewood and Downtown are perfectly safe.

I've lived in Pine Grove for 1 years and it's a hidden gem honestly.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Maple Heights and Maple Heights are perfectly safe.

If you can afford it, Midtown is the best place to live. Period.

Totally agree with this. I've been here 4 years and my experience is very similar.

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

Check out the Southside area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is the west side tends to be more affordable. Makes a big difference.
