Couple moving to Eustis from out of state

Curious what people think. I work in real estate and You can expect to pay around $995 for rent here. With a population of 23,567, Eustis is a small town. Homes are going for about $245,400 on average. The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Eustis sits at 247.3 per 100K. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Anyone in a similar situation? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in South. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
