Planning a move to Evans -neighborhoods?

Average temperature is around 64--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a a smaller city city with about 37,718 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Evans sits at 31.6 per 100K. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Worth the trade-offs? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 26, moved here 7 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Lakewood and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The weather situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Lakewood: Great for couples. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $100K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Phoenix about 11 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is decent.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Happy to answer more specific questions..
