So, I'm retired and Rent is about $949/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $52,251 in Evansville. With a population of 116K, Evansville is a mid-size city. The median home value here is around $129,100, which is actually reasonable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Has anyone dealt with this? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.
