Anyone else feel this way? We're a young couple and Crime rate is something to consider -Evansville sits at 612.6 per 100K. Median household income is $52,251, which feels on the lower side for the area. Rent is about $949/month for a decent place. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Should I be concerned? The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Pine Hills. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in government. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Korean.
No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in The Heights for 3 years. Moved from Baltimore for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Limited high-paying job options. And traffic can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 8/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in Midtown for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions
- The walkability scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
