I'm originally from Tucson and Household incomes average around $52,251 in Evansville. With a population of 116K, Evansville is a mid-size city. You can expect to pay around $949 for rent here. Poverty rate is 13.1%, which is around average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What would you do? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

I've lived in Riverside for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening
- The outdoor recreation scene is improving
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 15 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
