Curious what people think. The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Cedar Grove. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Came here for retirement and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The cost of living is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Came here for family and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor recreation is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much wild but now it's pretty good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Chicago about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is tough.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
