OK so I'm a remote worker and Median household income is $85,043, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $819,400, which is pretty steep. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Should I be concerned? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Denver about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is improving.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in engineering. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 8 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is excellent in most areas.
