I've lived in Riverside for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The food scene scene is decent
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in East. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in education. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I work in finance here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Moved here from Austin about 9 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to community vibe but Definitely worth checking out..
