What I wish I knew before living in Fabens

Hey everyone, I work in media and Crime rate is something to consider -Fabens sits at 105.8 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $645 for rent here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in North. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.
