Is Factoryville a good place to live?
First post here. The unemployment rate is 7.3%, which is concerning. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Thoughts?

Used to live on the Cedar Grove side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is solid in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Chicago about 9 years ago. The main reasons were school and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The safety is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..
