Rent is about $1,797/month for a decent place. It's a a smaller city city with about 32,030 people. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Am I wrong here? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been in Fairview for 13 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is improving - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Limited high-paying job options. And weather can be frustrating.

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Meadowbrook. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Indian.
