Relocating to Fair Oaks, VA -pros and cons?

Random thought, Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider -Fair Oaks sits at 73.9 per 100K. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Am I wrong here?

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in Uptown for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- The school system scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much stable but now it's solid.
