Is Fairbanks good for remote workers?

First post here. I'm originally from Seattle and You can expect to pay around $1,470 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Fairbanks sits at 784.3 per 100K. Rent is about $1,470/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $255,700 on average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
- The safety scene is improving

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Good luck with whatever you decide..
