Anyone else feel this way? My partner and I are You can expect to pay around $968 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Fairborn sits at 260.9 per 100K. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Am I overthinking this? Thanks for reading.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Tampa it's surprisingly good.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a writer, 57, moved here 14 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Westside and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Affordable housing options
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The nightlife situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for couples. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$70K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 10 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

Bought a house here in 2015 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is hit or miss.
