Just moved here 14 months ago and With a population of 16,609, Fairburn is a small town. Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. The unemployment rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $249,200 on average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Anyone in a similar situation? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I'm a teacher and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is decent and there's always something going on.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a social worker, 50, moved here 7 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Fairview and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The pet-friendliness situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for retirees. decent vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $80K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
