Anyone else feel this way? I'm single, late 20s, and Crime rate is something to consider -Fairfax sits at 298.7 per 100K. The weather takes some getting used to. Has anyone dealt with this? Appreciate any input. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Affordable housing options
- The food scene scene is decent
The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in government. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like seafood.
No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The cost of living is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Fairview for 10 years. Moved from Atlanta for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
construction is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is decent - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Rising rent and home prices. And traffic can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 6/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Used to live on the Downtown side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.
