Life in Fairfax as a young professional
Alright, Rent is about $2,122/month for a decent place. Has anyone dealt with this?

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Fairview area are excellent. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Miami about 10 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the Midtown side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Bought a house here in 2015 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
